Self-Employed Assistance Scheme (SEAS)

Extension for month of November 2021

Following the decision of the Government of the Republic of Mauritius to extend the Self-Employed Assistance Scheme (SEAS) for the month of November 2021, the Mauritius Revenue Authority (MRA) informs self-employed individuals of the following measures for the payment of the financial assistance.

Sectors other than the Tourism Sector

Financial assistance for a full month will be provided under SEAS to those carrying out the following activities or who were not allowed to operate during the month of November 2021. :

  1. Fitness centres and Professional Sports;
  2. Horse racing bookmakers (outlets), casinos and gaming houses;
  3. Leisure parks, amusement centres, including aquariums for public viewing;
  4. Multi-purpose halls, including wedding halls, theatres and cinema halls;
  5. Bars;
  6. Self-employed individuals who are :
  7. (i) Stallholders in the Central Market or other markets engaged in the sale of tourist products
    (ii) Artists.
    (iii) An employee of a training institution registered under the Mauritius Qualifications Authority Act;
    (iv) An auctioneer appointed under the Sales by Auction Act ;
    (v) A restaurant, a fast food, a cafe, a caterer, a school canteen and other prepared food selling businesses whose annual turnover does not exceed 50 millions; and
    (vi) a fee charger creche, pre primary school, primary school, secondary school and registered university if its turnover has been reduced by more than 40 percent.

Eligible self-employed individuals and tradespersons will receive a financial support of Rs 5,100 for the period 01 July / August / September / October / November / December 2020 to 30 July / August / September / October / November / December 2020 and Rs 5,287 for the period January 2021 / February 2021 / March 2021 / April 2021 / May 2021 / June 2021 / July 2021 / August 2021/September 2021/October 2021/November 2021. All payments will be credited to the applicants' bank account.

Pre-requisite (please read this section carefully before applying)

In order to apply for SEAS, an applicant should ensure that he has his National Identity Card, his mobile phone and his bank account details at hand. On providing the required information, a one-time password (OTP) will be sent on the mobile phone number provided and the OTP will have to be entered in order to proceed with the application.

In processing the applications under SEAS, the MRA will carry out internal checks to verify the correctness of claims. Thereafter, MRA will credit the amount to the bank account of the applicant.


Taxpayers accessing the service are advised to use a recent version of Google Chrome, Internet Explorer or Firefox as browser to file their return.
